NORTH STAR: Tracklist from Shame Parade’s Evening Reception

Our opening evening event for Shame Parade was soundtracked by NORTH STAR, who captured the celebration perfectly with an atmospheric set; building a range of sound from ambient to budots before closing the evening with Mull of Kintyre and the iconic Born Slippy.

NORTH STAR is Kyle Angel Leeson, who is currently in Venice as part of the Scotland + Venice Professional Development Programme. Their time in Venice is in partnership with a-n, who support this programme that allows early-career arts professionals the opportunity to spend time at La Biennale di Venezia. They are part of a cohort who will welcome visitors, care for the artwork and hold conversations about Shame Parade to engage the public for Scotland + Venice. They will also have time to explore artwork across the city and develop their own practice while making international connections.

Kyle Angel Leeson is an artist, producer and DJ from the northeast of Scotland currently based in Glasgow. Informed by their lived experience as a trans person, they create immersive environments using live and recorded sound, moving image, soft sculpture, airbrushing and dynamic lighting. Emulating comfort and escapism in a climate that seeks to erase trans people, their practice celebrates the complexities of trans livelihood while creating spaces of sanctuary for their community.
